Pazos

After the Irmandiña revolts destroyed many castles in the 15th century, the Galician lesser nobility built elegant country estates — the pazos — symbols of a new era of rural aristocratic life.

Pazos de Arenteiro

16th — 17th centuryBoborás · Ribeiro · OurenseCervela · Feixoo · Order of Malta

The most remarkable concentration of noble architecture in O Ribeiro. This tiny parish at the confluence of the Avia and Arenteiro rivers contains at least eight major noble houses: Pazo de Cervela, Pazo dos Feixoo, Pazo do Currelo, Pazo dos Tizón, and the Pazo de la Encomienda — a former commandery of the Order of Malta, one of only two in Ourense province.

Pazo da Cavadina

17th — 18th centuryCastrelo de Miño · OurenseHouse of Araujo

The most significant noble house in Castrelo de Miño and the best representative of Baroque civil architecture in the area. A two-story building with the central section projecting forward and rising to a third floor, with a chapel in the courtyard — a hallmark of pazo culture indicating the family's social status. The Araujo lineage connects it to the Torre de Sande in neighbouring Cartelle.
