The Apelidos de Galicia index reproduces an ARG entry naming Juan Álvarez de Novoa, a collegian at the Mayor de Santiago, in litigation involving Juan de Quintana and Juan Vázquez de Groba. The name, college and date suggest the same Juan as the 1639 Fonseca entry. This is an identity hypothesis: the abstract names no parents, and the original case and its shelfmark have not been located.
The cathedral catalogue dates a donation by canon Eliseo de las Alas for Francisco de Novoa Villaramín, his relative, and Catalina de Vaamonde to 28 November 1591 (ACS P 108, fols. 355r–358r). Our pedigree instead names Catalina de Salgado. Whether these are different couples, different marriages or alternate surnames is unresolved. The catalogue metadata was checked through its indexed description; the four-folio manuscript was not read. This date is not assigned to our grandparents’ marriage.
The cathedral catalogue names Francisco de Novoa Villamarín, a student in Santiago and nephew of prior and canon Juan Vázquez de las Alas, concerning 36 cavaduras of vineyard at Bieite, tierra de Ribadavia (ACS P 152, fols. 264r–264v). This establishes a separate catalogue mention, not his identity with Juan’s grandfather or the 1591 groom. Indexed catalogue metadata only; manuscript unread.
The Maside catalogue lists a payment by licenciado Francisco de Novoa Villamarín y Vaamonde, abbot of San Tomé de Maside, on 2 June 1639 (ACS P 179.4, fols. 205v–206r). His relationship to the 1591 groom, the 1613 student and Juan’s grandfather is unknown. The catalogue listing was checked; the manuscript was not read.
Pérez Costanti’s published extract (printed p. 238) gives the 1581 collegian Eliseo de las Alas Villamarín as a son of Rosendo Salgado and Aldonza de Novoa. Aldonza’s parents are Alonso de Novoa and Teresa de las Alas; Alonso’s parents are Luis de Villamarín and Catalina Rodríguez; Teresa’s father is Suero de las Alas. These are Eliseo’s reported ancestors. No verified bridge identifies him with the 1591 donor or makes them Francisco’s ancestors.
