The Santiago-born Maria, twenty in 1679 (2100), and the Verín-born Maria, fourteen in 1679 (4894), are distinct. The existing process 4894 occurrence is reused as a reference, not duplicated or merged.
The existing 4894 relatives are reused because their named spouse and uncle/aunt relationships match this published family. Their manuscript readings remain unchanged. The new Santiago-born Maria belongs to process 2100; she is not the defendant of 4894.
Ferreira could not inspect damaged processes 6540 (Isabel do Vale) and 5214 (Diogo Roxas). His published account does not replace the separate manuscript readings in process 4894.

Ferreira’s published reconstruction of the later Verín–Chaves families. The article, not the original manuscripts, was checked for this addition. Its note 48 says damaged processes including 6535 were unavailable to the author, who used catalogue descriptions and other cases. The separate 1580–1640 total is 32 individuals (24 women, 8 men), updating 28; it includes Portuguese and foreign people associated with Chaves, not 32 households or 32 Verín natives. No ancestry joining these families to the earlier Álvarez–da Costa network is established.
